It's Christmas time at our house!

The Holidays are Here! I had a relaxing week off of work last week, and I'm looking forward to another week off for Christmas! We had a great Thanksgiving last weekend. We hosted it at our house, and thanks to a pre-cooked turkey that was given to us as a gift...we didn't even have to do much cooking. Since we will be in Kansas for Christmas, I wanted to get the decorations up early. I spent the first part of last week getting not one, but two Christmas trees put up. The "big" tree (9 ft.) is decorated in all red, green and silver and is in the main living room. The "Rocking Horse Tree" is in the dining room and has my entire collection of rocking horse ornaments on it. Now I just need to get some presents under the tree...

The Wedding is Booked

September 25, 2010! We have booked our venues for the wedding and our date will be 9-25-10! I am very excited that I was able to negotiate a great deal and get my top pick! The ceremony will be at St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the reception will be in the Phantom ballroom at Hotel ZaZa! The church and hotel are right next to each other so it will be very convenient, not to mention both venues are BEAUTIFUL! I am relieved to have this part of the planning taken care of because now I can start to think about other things...flowers, cake, bridemaid dresses, decor etc. The colors will be smoke (think dark, shimmery, charcoal gray) and mulberry (think dark pink) with accent colors of white, black and silver. These colors evolved from the beading on my dress. I have posted some additional photos that I like for decor "ideas."

Halloween Weekend 2009

We had a wonderful Halloween weekend...Friday night, Ed and I went to dinner at Glass Wall in the Heights with our friends Miranda and Jeff. Saturday, Lindsey and I went all over town scoping out possible reception venues (I found a lot of "no's" not much luck on finding a possible "yes".) For Halloween night we had a few friends over for dinner and dressed the dogs up in costumes. Buddy is the pumpkin and Maggie is the lobster. Ed bought tons of candy and sadly we only had 3 trick-or-treaters all night! So now there is a big bowl of candy left over... I will have to find a way to get rid of this candy! Sunday Lindsey and I went to Heaven... I mean the outlet mall in San Marcos! :) I finally used my pottery barn gift card and bought some great holiday decor! Is it too soon to start decorating for Christmas!?!?!

I found the dress!

I made my first big purchase for the wedding this weekend! After visiting 2 salons and trying on about 15 dresses, I found THE ONE! I had planned to go to at least 4 salons however, when I came across the dress last weekend I realized my dress shopping was over. I did not buy the dress right away, I waited a week and went back with my Mom, Eileen, Katie, Kylie and Lindsey for a 2nd trial and that was enough to reassure me that this was THE DRESS. Of course I will not be posting any photos of THE DRESS, because that should be a surprise. However I have posted a few photos of the dresses that did not make the cut. Trying on wedding dresses was a wonderful and exciting experience. I would do it all the time if I could! :) THE DRESS will be ready in the spring, just in time for bridal photos!

Joe & Des' Wedding

Our weekend in California
Ed and I just returned from a 4-day weekend in Northern California. We went for my friend Des' wedding (I was a bridesmaid in her wedding and she will be a bridesmaid in our wedding as well!). We had a great time, the weather was beautiful, a little cold, but a nice break from the 90 degree weather we left in Houston! The wedding was in Los Gatos, CA at Testarossa Winery. It was beautiful! We also visited Monterey and Carmel while we were there. The beaches are gorgeous and Pebble Beach/ 17-mile-drive was great! Here are a few photos from this weekend...
